The Store Update

While we’ve been busy with calving and all the other things that go on around here, our friend John the builder has been working on the store here at the ranch. We are trying to get it ready to open by Memorial Day Weekend.

John added an entrance to the west side of the old gazebo.

??????????????????????

They wrapped and sided it with cedar boards and batts.

??????????????????????

He also made the doors – which he designed to look like barn doors.

??????????????????????

??????????????????????

Then the roofers came and put a new roof on the whole building.

??????????????????????

The new roof completed.

??????????????????????

Insulation in the walls.

??????????????????????

We even have plumbing!

??????????????????????

Any guesses what this part is?

??????????????????????

Is that thing to let the sun shine in? This project is really turning out nice. – Donna

Is that the thingy on top of which to set a weather vane – you ARE going to have a weather vane, aren’t you? It occurs to me, that Daryl & Becky are going to be the first ones from Bkfd to see the completed store and they are the only ones who won’t remember the gazebo. A first class job’

Sorry – no weather vane. Instead we have a solar tube skylight.
I’m sure Daryl & Becky will be able to tell where the old gazebo was.

Okay…what are you doing with the old opening at the top? We had always planned to put in a regular BBQ with a funnel leading up to let the smoke out that stack. This is too fun!!!! Yes, it is shocking; I do need to send you photos of the beginnings of that gazebo…way back when…way, way back when. It will make the greatest little market store; however will you EXPAND IT? It looks terrific.

The smokestack made the perfect opening for the solar tube! And I’m really hoping we don’t have to expand 🙂

    Question.
Is there a water line out to the “Store”? Or is it like the chicken coop? Stranger things have been known to happen. Regardless it looks great, as does anything John does.
