New Additions

Here are the newest additions to the animal population here at the ranch.

Molly and Grizzly tug-o-war.

Our friend John has a blue heeler named Brodie who is one of our favorite dogs.  It seemed a natural for us to get one when we decided to get a dog for ourselves.  We hadn’t really planned to get two dogs at once, but when we went to look at the pups there was Molly.  She and Grizzly are adopted litter mates and get along really well.

We have been enjoying watching their puppy antics. So far they have chewed up a plastic milk jug, dug holes in the garden and made off with one of my gloves.  Standard puppy behavior I suppose.  We are going downriver tomorrow so we will get some chew toys that hopefully will help with that.

They are doing well staying near and being on the lookout for intruders (which to them are birds, deer, squirrels, etc. as well as the human ones).  Molly had the census man backing up the second evening she was here, so they are doing their jobs very well!

  1. Oh boy, no you have trouble. LOL. Our mcnab/ border collie puppy is now a little over a year old, and we still can’t quite keep up with her, or control her. But she sure is cute, in a weasle kind of way. Good luck with your pair, they are really cute. I am especially taken with Molly. I think that 1/4 lab will make her especially nice.

  2. Both are good looking dogs!!! I am sure they will be alot of fun and will hopefully keep those intruders away that might be lured in by your garden goodies. Tell Rick and Russell it looks like they are doing a fine job of training the dogs from their seats on the porch!!! It looks like Russell has trained Molly well on the laying down command!! It looks like all of you are enjoying your time together. Tell everyone HELLO!!!

  3. You are both right – the pups will take a lot of instruction! They had not been taught a lot of manners before we got them. We are working on not jumping on people and sitting on command. As long as it is convenient for them they obey those commands pretty well ;)

We will keep you posted (hopefully) with progress.
